Portable Power Station Buying Guide: Capacity, Output and Safety
Wh capacity, pure sine wave AC output, USB-C PD fast charging and LiFePO4 cells - what each specification means before you buy a portable power station.
Capacity: match watt-hours to the load
Capacity in watt-hours decides runtime. Dengke's range steps from 192Wh and 384Wh (12.8V platform) through 576Wh and 1152Wh (19.2V platform) up to 2304Wh and 3072Wh (51.2V platform). A 192Wh unit tops up phones and routers; 576Wh to 1152Wh runs mid-size appliances; 2304Wh and above handles high-draw tools and longer outages.
AC output: sine wave and headroom
AC sockets are rated from 300W to 2000W across the range. Sensitive electronics such as laptops and TVs pair best with pure sine wave output. Leave headroom above the appliance's rated draw, and check whether the sockets are a single shared inverter or independent groups.
DC and fast-charging outputs
Beyond AC, count the DC terminals (12V/10A cigarette and barrel ports), USB-A QC3.0 ports, and USB-C. USB-C Power Delivery reaches 18W on the compact and -02 platforms, and 30W plus 100W on the CY-HY-600W, B2 and A2 series, enough for laptops, while 15W wireless pads charge phones cable-free.
Cells and safety
Dengke power stations use LiFePO4 cells for stable, long-lasting capacity, and most models include a built-in LED light with SOS mode for emergencies.
Recharging flexibility
Inputs vary by model: 14.6V DC chargers with photovoltaic PWM tracking on the compact platform; XT60 21.9V/20A wall charging plus 22-36V/20A solar on the CY-600W-02 and CY-1200W-02; DC5521 wall, car and solar inputs at 12-24V on the CY-HY-600W A1/B1 and B2 series; and MPPT tracking up to 45V with 400W solar on the A2 series. Match the input to how you plan to recharge - wall, car or solar panel.
